Been a long time

Sorry gang, forgot I had this site until I wanted to touch base with someone I know here recently.   My main stuff is now at http://www.myspace.com/hitbythehalcyonhammer, including songs and everything, but I'll check back here also.

Home sick this afternoon -- hopefully better tomorrow.  Someone just hooked up a tap to my toe and drained all my strength.  Can't get enough sleep, but I don't want to lie down anymore, so I'm taking the remaining atoms of strength to say hi to you.

Hi.

Reading through a book given to me by a friend which has a daily reaing for each day of the year and some corresponding Bible passages to go with it.  It's called "None But The Hungry Heart" and it's really good.  I may post some of the pertinent pieces as I go here.

Thunderstorms last night here - YES!  I love watching lightning.  If you look at  a storm from here, it's pretty big and scary, but if you look down from space and see the tiny little dot that a storm is, that put's God's power into perspective.  Whatever storm is going on, it's ALWAYS blue sky up there somewhere above it (if you travel commercial airline - or have your own private jet (HA which I never will) - then you may have experienced that).  Anyway, wave after wave hit us all night, and still here this morning.  Lots O' Fun.

I've been wandering around the virtual neighborhood and there are a lot of really cool people out here on Xanga... lots of people I know that I'll be subscribing to and keeping better in touch with.

Lately, I've been working on some self-discipline issues (like a sane sleep schedule), so my family and I can better center our lives around Christ, but MAN that old nature in me is resisting that.  The first few days I attempted to get up to make sure I spent my time in prayer and in the Word of God FIRST (because I seem to get going and never get - or make - time to do it later), I just felt I'd been on the losing end of playing chicken with a semi.  But it was lots better this morning, and I even have a couple of mins to update this.

One thing I'm very excited about is Powerfest Christian Music Festival up by somewhere up near Green Bay, WI this August (www.powerfest.us).  I sometimes play guitar in David Bush's band (www.davidbush.com) when he does live stuff, and looks like we will be playing there on Sunday Aug 14 on the main stage.  David is in CA right now recording some new songs, so it will be a lot of fun.  Apologetix (www.apologetix.com) will be there sometime during the festival also, and I've always wanted to see them.  But they will also be here in Iowa on the "Bash On The Farm" up by Clear Lake on June 18... maybe I can sneak up there to see them then!

Weirdly, my double life calls to me -- I need to go to work and develop web sites and software for an evil corporation.  Actually they're really great -- lots of good people there, right up to the top.  "He who refuses to work does not get to eat..."  (2 Thessalonians 3:10) or maybe "if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for the members of his household, he has DENIED THE FAITH and is WORSE THAN AN UNBELIVER!"   (1 Tim 5:8) YOW!!!  Woah dude... that's heavy.  Better get going...
